During the summer we had a fantastic variety of activities for our young people to enjoy. Each week we hosted a summer holiday club, which consisted of in house activities such as arts and crafts, drama and music. We also visited local parks to keep active, as well as public attractions such as madam tussuads. On some weeks we had recreational activities such as visiting the cinema.
One of the in house activities that were thoroughly enjoyed by the young people was gardening. We planted various vegetables and watered them every day with the young people, the young people were able to keep the plant and watch their plants grow over time. This was a unique experience for them as they found it interesting watching their plants grow and were able to gain ownership and responsibility skills as they were required to remember to water their plants every day.
We also visited madam tussuads with the young people, which they really enjoyed. They took numerous pictures with the waxes and were able to recognise a wide range of iconic people, both historical and current. This demonstrated knowledge and awareness amongst our young people.
We ended the summer programme with our annual beach trip to Bournemouth. The young people were able to watch the live air festival, which occurs annually. Our beach trip was a multi-generational event where people of all ages were able to interact and enjoy themselves. Some people also experienced a beautiful cruise experience, which consisted seeing the brown sea island.
